Candidates 27B 29A

For our final installment on candidates running for seats in the Minnesota House of Representatives, we head to district 27B and 29A. In district 27B, Rep. Jeanne Poppe is up against Patricia Mueller while in district 29A, Rep. Joe McDonald faces Renee Cardarelle. Both Mueller and McDonald did not respond to our queries so we will only feature the responses from Poppe and Cardarelle.

27B Rep. Jeanne Poppecropped Jeanne Poppe (D)

Q. Do you support Minnesota’s Petroleum Replacement Law (Minn. Stat. 239.7911), which calls for the consumption of at least 30 percent biofuels in transportation fuel by 2025?

A. Yes. I could add I authored HF 3699 increasing mandate for biofuel content!

Q. Given the large number of spark ignition engine powered vehicles on the road and the need to rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector, what is your position concerning a Minnesota Low Carbon High Octane Fuel Standard/Clean Fuels Policy which would result in higher consumption of ethanol?

A. I support creating policies to increase consumption of ethanol.

Q. Do you support accelerating the permitting process for installation of equipment to improve ethanol production and reduce emissions?

A. Yes.

Q. Do you support making higher ethanol blends, such as E15, available across Minnesota through infrastructure funding?

A. Yes.

Q. Do you support Minnesota’s Petroleum Replacement Law (Minn. Stat. 239.7911), which calls for the consumption of at least 30 percent biofuels in transportation fuel by 2025?

A. Yes. Biofuels are an important part of moving the United States from a fossil fuel consuming economy to a clean, renewable economy.  I do support increased consumption of biofuels and as long as the technology supports this conversation, I would encourage it! The goal is to see us move to clean, alternative energy.

A. Yes, I would agree with that as a temporary solution to climate change.

Q. Do you support accelerating the permitting process for installation of equipment to improve ethanol production and reduce emissions?

A. Yes, as a temporary measure to address climate change.

Q. Do you support making higher ethanol blends, such as E15, available across Minnesota through infrastructure funding?

A. Yes.
