The Ethanol Industry's Economic Footprint in Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District

  • Monday, 19 March 2018 14:50

Continuing our series on the ethanol industry’s economic footprint in specific congressional districts in Minnesota, we head today to the sixth congressional district.

This district includes cities such as Andover, Elk River, St. Cloud, Buffalo, Columbus, Zimmerman, Waconia, Sauk Rapids, Norwood Young America, Monticello, Forest Lake, Anoka and Blaine.

Like the second, third, fourth and fifth districts, there aren’t any ethanol plants in the sixth district.

However, there are 13 companies in the aforementioned cities and towns that provide a range of services and products to the ethanol industry.

These services and products include emissions testing, fuel dispensing equipment, tank and pump setup programs, pipe cleaning and restoration, filtration containment, ethanol transport, design system processes, grain bin installation, construction and engineering services, loan and insurances providers as well as chemical treatments.

Some of the companies that provide these services include Westmor, Polar, Rain for Rent, North American Industrial Services, Compeer Financial, US Water Services, Beaudry Oil and Propane and Larson Engineering.

Apart from these vendor companies, there are 57 gas stations that offer higher blends of ethanol like E15 and E85. Among the brands offering these fuels include Kwik Trip, Holiday, SuperAmerica, Coborn’s, Little Dukes, Minnoco and Tesoro.
